The Must Do’s when you’re in New York City

It this is your first time visiting the Big Apple then there are a number of things you should do which unfortunately few tourists from Europe know about. Below we look at three of the absolute must do’s when you make landfall in New York City.

Central Park

Central Park is a visitor’s paradise especially for those who enjoy exploring natural beauty. Though it’s not free for tourists it’s worth the cost of admission. The park was designed by the famous Frederick Law and Calvert Vaux. The 843 acres of pure natural beauty offers a number of hidden attraction too. The best way to see it all is by Bicycle. Bikes are available for around $20.  You can book a two hour long expedition via Central Park Bike Tours which kicks off at 9 am and costs $47 a person.

A stroll through West Village

This is a neighborhood best known for its brownstone, clustered, cobbled and tree lined streets which have remained unchanged since the 19th century. Though you’ll need a map in order to make your way though the somewhat puzzling geography. Some of the things to see there is Jefferson Market Courthouse, which was a former women’s detention center.  Magnolia Bakery is best known for their cupcakes so, buying a few of these here even for the health conscious is a definite must.

The film forum

It goes without saying that the city of New York is a town for film lovers. The Film Forum is the epicenter for the country’s cinephiles. The programming here ranges from thought provoking indie movies to documentaries and foreign cinema from the world over. Take a look at the repertory calendar which is always entertaining. Plus you ought to try the concession stand’s tasty lemon poppy sponge cake too.
